Frequently Asked Questions About Reprints

Q: What is an article reprint? What are its uses?
A: An article reprint is a high-quality "press" printed reproduction of an existing editorial article that was written about you, your company, products or services. We print on 80 pound white glossy paper. Other paper weights are available upon request for a small additional fee.

Unlike your existing marketing materials, a reprint is an unbiased 3rd party endorsement of your company, products or services. Reprints are beneficial as stand alone direct mailers or as promotional tools at trade shows and seminars. They also greatly enhance your sales literature and press kits as well as investor or P.R. packets.

To meet your individual needs, Scoop will custom design your reprint and handle all of the necessary copyright and photo permission/rights on your behalf.

Q: When can I expect delivery of my reprint order?
A: Scoop can accommodate most delivery requirements with advanced notice of your needs.

Our standard turnaround time is 12-14 business days from the time your order is placed until it ships. Rush orders can also be accommodated for an additional charge. Turnaround time for rush orders is approximately 7-9business days.

All completed jobs ship UPS ground within California and UPS 2 day air outside of California, unless otherwise requested. ALL RUSH orders ship via UPS overnight.

Your prompt review and response to our layout proofing process will expedite your turnaround time.

Q: What are my layout options?
A: In order to achieve complete client satisfaction, we offer several color options to fit your specific reprint needs:

4-Color/Full Color — These reprints are produced using the standard four-color inks. If your article was originally published in color, your reprints will be an exact replica of the original article (can also be converted to black and white).

2-Color — These reprints are produced using black ink plus a standard Pantone color. A second color is usually added when you want to bring attention to a specific area of the article or simply match a company or magazine logo color.

B/W — Black & white reprints are produced using black ink only (also referred to as single color reprints). Most B/W articles can be converted to color (ask your reprint specialist for details).

Q: What are my layout options?
A: 8.5"x11" is the typical page format for our reprints. If your article was tabloid or newspaper page size you may have the option to print full size or reduce to 8.5" x 11" after final fold.

One of our layout artists will walk you through the layout formatting and proofing process.

Q: Will I see a proof of my reprint before it is printed?
A: Yes. One of our layout artists will reformat your article and fax or e-mail you a "mechanical proof" (a rough draft with blank spaces for photos) to start the approval process. Once you have reviewed the proof and made any necessary alterations you will receive a "final proof." This proof will represent the final layout of your article and graphics as well as any other design elements you requested before it is printed.

A Matchprint proof is a true 4-color representation of your reprint. This proof will be sent via overnight mail for those reprints being printed in color for final approval.

Q: Can I make changes to the layout?
A: Yes. Your input on the reformatting of your article is welcomed and encouraged. We will reposition and resize text and photos on any "mechanical draft" until you are satisfied with the layout. However, due to copyright laws we cannot change or delete any text within the article without the prior written consent of the author or publisher. A reprint is a true reproduction of the original printed version.

Q: How much do reprints cost?
A: Our prices vary depending on the format and quantity you prefer. One of our Reprint Specialists can fax or e-mail you a customized quote upon request.

Q: What are your payment terms?
A: We require a 50% deposit of the quoted price before going to final print and will invoice you for the balance upon delivery. You can pay the deposit with a check or credit card, whichever you prefer.

Credit Card: We honor VISA, Master Card, American Express, and Discover.

Prepayment: You may prepay with a company check or issue a P.O. for the full amount if that is more feasible for your company.

Q: What are the minimum quantities for reprint orders?
A: The minimum quantities are:
Black/White = 250 reprints
Two color = 250 Reprints
Full Color = 500 reprints

Q: What publications can you reprint from?
A: We can reprint from most national and regional publications. In addition, we are exclusively contracted by a number of publishers.

Q: Can we re-order reprints of our article?
A: Yes; you will receive a re-order discount on any re-order.

Frequently Asked Questions About FameFrames

Q: What is a FameFrame?
A: A FameFrame is a unique wall display custom-designed to meet your marketing needs. From publications, certificates, and other important memorabilia, we create wood plaques, reprint posters, foam core mountings, and countertop easels. Our wood plaques are most popular and consist of a hard wood plaque with color trims and a finish of your choice.

Q: How do I get a price quote and place an order for my FameFrame?
A: We price our FameFrames according to the size of the product. You may contact our FameFrame department at (800) 767-3263 or e-mail a request for a complimentary layout and quote. Once you have received the layout and quote you may order by completing the approval form and faxing it to (949) 225-6010.

Q: Do you use the original newspaper or magazine article?
A: We often reformat article columns but do not reflow or alter text. All newsprint pieces and some magazine pieces are transferred to film paper to pr event article yellowing and to create a better looking piece to display.

Q: What wood plaque finishes are available?
A: Each wood plaque is laminated with a high-gloss, matte, or linen finish depending on your personal taste. The high-gloss finish is most popular but if your plaque is large in size we suggest a matte finish to reduce some of the glare. The linen finish also works well for the larger plaques as it has a textured no-glare surface.

Q: What are my color options?
A: For plaque color options please see our background and trim colors on the product page.

Q: Do I need to send in the publication?
A: We are happy to order back issues for you if we do not carry them in our library. Please contact us for publication availability and back issue ordering information.

Q: How long will my FameFrame be in production?
A: Once we have obtained the publication, production time is approximately ten business days depending on the type of order and materials used. Please let us know if you need your plaque by a specific date. We offer a rush production of approximately seven business days for a 15% fee.

Q: What are my payment options?
A: You may pay by check, VISA, Mastercard or American Express. We ask that you include a credit card number to secure your FameFrame order but if you prefer to pay by check we will invoice you when the product is shipped.
